Frequently Asked Questions:

How many days do you recommend spending at Muyuna?

We know that Peru is a paradise of natural destinations and time is always short, however, we suggest taking at least 4 days to enjoy all that the jungle has to offer. If you are looking for more adventure, the 6 days package also includes the Medicinal Plants excursion, the full-day and camping in the middle of the jungle.

Why visit the jungle of Iquitos instead of Puerto Maldonado?

- Iquitos is the only place in Peru where you can see the authentic Amazon River. - You can swim in the Amazon River and see the pink and gray dolphins around. In fact pink dolphins only live here. - The Victoria Regia, the largest aquatic plant in the world, only exists in the Amazon River. - Puerto Maldonado is close to Cusco, and allows an easy connection indeed, but there are also flights from Cusco to Iquitos in the high season, allowing you to live the full Amazon experience.

How to arrive in Iquitos and Muyuna?

Iquitos is a city without land connection, the only ways to get there is by air or by river. There are direct flights from Lima every day; and Cusco in high season. The trip begins in Iquitos, driving by the only highway around for 1:30 hours (bus) and then sailing along the Amazon for 40 minutes (speedboat). We manage all our operations.

Is it safe to travel to Muyuna?

Muyuna and surroundings have never had cases of Yellow Fever, Dengue, Malaria, or Zika. The diseases are spread usually within a city. Travelling to a nature spot is a safe activity against Covid-19 since all excursions are carried out in open spaces.

What animals and plants are most observed?

Due to Muyuna's remote location from civilization, we guarantee the observation of monkeys, sloths, pink and gray dolphins, caimans, iguanas, hundreds of birds, piranhas and many more species in their natural habitat. The flora of the Amazon River rainforest is rich and diverse: Uña De Gato and other medicinal plants are used by the natives as alternative medicine; Victoria Regia is the world's largest actea plant; Bromeliads and Heliconias are exotic flowers that you will also be able to appreciate.
